Kutaisi University is the first private higher educational institution in the west part of Georgia, which was founded in 1991.Kutaisi University offers students high quality education with international standards, a variety of exchange programs and practical-oriented teaching courses.
Kutaisi University implements all three-step programs: Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs. The following faculties are functioning at University: Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Law. Within the faculties there are both Georgian and English-taught educational programs.Kutaisi University has economic and medical research institute and the international peer-reviewed magazine “Economic Profile” .Kutaisi University collaborating with 26 universities in 15 countries based on the Memorandum of Understanding. This fact even allows us to accept foreign students and lecturers to have double degree programs. Also, to have exchange programs for students, academic and for administrative staff. In accordance with this, students are given the opportunity to participate in exchange programs.
They travel intensively abroad and at the same time, foreigners are studying MBBS in Georgia at Kutaisi State University.Besides, Kutaisi University focuses on education with a high quality, it also supports students for employment and interns through the Student and Alumni Service Center.Kutaisi University is an individual associate member of EUA (European University Association). It is the fifth private university in Georgia which has joined the EUA, which is a unique opportunity to develop and elaborate European educational policy.
Life in Kutaisi City
Kutaisi, city, west-central Georgia. It lies along the Rioni River where the latter emerges from the Caucasian foothills into a lowland. For history and mythology lovers, it is also interesting to know that Kutaisi was the political center of the ancient and fabled Kingdom of Colchis, – home to Golden Fleece and destination of the Argonauts. Kutaisi is the one of the oldest cities of Transcaucasia, it served at various periods as the capital of successive kingdoms in Georgia: Colchis, Iberia (Kartli), Abkhazia, and Imeretia. After the Russian conquest, Kutaisi was made a provincial seat. It was sacked often in its stormy history, notably by the Turks in 1691; the ruins of the 11th-century Cathedral of Kutaisi, built by the King of Bagrati who first unified Georgia, stand on a hill above the city centre, Just outside the city is the 12th-century Gelati cathedral and monastery, together designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994; also on the outskirts is the Sataplia Nature Reserve, with limestone caverns and dinosaur fossils. Today it is the Second largest city, which has served as Georgia’s parliamentary capital for years.

Faculty of Medicine Kutaisi University
- The faculty aims to train competent, patient-oriented physicians who will be equipped with modern international standard-level theoretical knowledge and clinical/research skills; Doctors who will be actively involved in the lifelong learning and teaching process and will contribute to the well-being of the community.
- The program is accredited by the legislation of Georgia; it complies with modern international standards and is based on World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) standards.
- Kutaisi University is a member of the European Medical Education Association (AMEE). The Association is the world’s leading medical education organization with members in 90 countries which will enable the staff and the students to be more actively involved in international conferences, seminars, and activities related to the teaching of medicine.
- The university has a clinical skill-enhancing center that allows students through moulages and mannequins learn and put into practice all the manipulations they will need for professional activities. The equipment at the center meets international standards and is gradually upgraded.
- The university has biochemical and histological, Physiological, and Microbiological/Immunological laboratories.
- Currently, is implementing the Medical Doctor (MD) Program at the Faculty of Medicine.
