Central Univeristy of Europe

Central University of Europe, Tbilisi Campus

Origins & Founding Vision

The Central University of Europe (CUE) traces its roots to the early 20th century, when a group of European scholars envisioned a transnational institution that would bridge Eastern and Western academic traditions. Originally established in Vienna in 1921, CUE was conceived as a hub for interdisciplinary studies, fostering intellectual exchange beyond political and cultural borders.

After decades of growth, the university expanded its reach, opening its Tbilisi Campus in 2004 as part of a strategic initiative to strengthen academic ties between Europe and the Caucasus. Georgia’s rich history as a crossroads of civilizations made Tbilisi the ideal location for a campus dedicated to global education.

Central Univeristy of Europe, Kutaisi Campus

In 2012, the Central University of Europe (CUE) made a strategic decision to expand beyond its flagship Tbilisi campus, choosing Kutaisi, Georgia’s ancient capital, as the site of its second Georgian campus. This move was driven by a vision to decentralize elite education and stimulate intellectual growth in Georgia’s western region.
Kutaisi, a city steeped in 3,000 years of history, was the perfect setting—a place where Europe’s academic rigor could merge with Georgia’s deep-rooted scholarly traditions. The campus opened in 2015 with a focus on engineering, sustainable development, and Georgian heritage studies, filling a critical gap in Western Georgia’s higher education landscape.

They travel intensively abroad and at the same time, foreigners are studying MBBS in Georgia at Kutaisi State University.Besides, Kutaisi University focuses on education with a high quality, it also supports students for employment and interns through the Student and Alumni Service Center.Kutaisi University is an individual associate member of EUA (European University Association).
