The Central University of Europe (CUE) traces its roots to the early 20th century, when a group of European scholars envisioned a transnational institution that would bridge Eastern and Western academic traditions. Originally established in Vienna in 1921, CUE was conceived as a hub for interdisciplinary studies, fostering intellectual exchange beyond political and cultural borders.
After decades of growth, the university expanded its reach, opening its Tbilisi Campus in 2004 as part of a strategic initiative to strengthen academic ties between Europe and the Caucasus.
